  1. I will be relocating to the UK and will be purchasing my own microchip reader for my dog. Although we will be travelling on the same plane I was hoping you could help me figure out where to carry the microchip reader since I do not want him to be sent to quarentine because the reader at Heathrow airport (london) is not compatible.

    Thanks,

    Ronnie

Hi Ronnie, I was not sure on this so I checked with my good friends at PetTravelStore who sells the microchips and readers. They say you should carry with you in your carry-on items. They do not recommend it being attached to the kennel because it may get lost, broke or stolen. The pet’s owner goes from the plane to the quarantine center to pick up the pet. If there were some confusion over reading the microchip the owner could present the reader at that time.
I might add you could put a big sign on the kennel itself stating PET IN KENNEL IS MICROCHIPPED / PLEASE CONTACT OWNER (TRAVELING ON BOARD) FOR COMPATIBLE MICROCHIP READER IF NECESSARY.
